I am using this more as a curler than a straightener. It's very smooth and works great! This straighter gets heated up very quickly! It is smaller so it can get the top hair easily. Highly Recommend!!

It works amazingly for a newbie like me. I have super thin and porous hair (yes, it's not healthy...) but even then, this device works well. Also, I love the gold finish LOL. It being pretty is definitely a bonus.
